Geographic Concentration
Three provinces -- Gauteng, Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal -- account for 73.0% of total sport GVA. This mirrors the broader concentration of South Africa's economic activity.
The remaining six provinces share just 27.0% of sport economic output, despite containing over 40% of the national population.
Methodology
Provincial GVA estimates are derived from national GDP data combined with sport satellite account methodology. Regional distribution is based on the geographic concentration of sport-related economic activity.
Population figures are based on mid-year population estimates. Reference year: 2022.
